TEASER
FADE IN.
INT. G&C'S CONDO - LIVING ROOM - EVENING
GABRIELLA lets herself into the dark, empty condo, holding
the door open behind her for KAIA to follow her in.
LESI rushes up to Gabriella and jumps up and down excitedly.
Then she actually notices Kaia and growls.
GABRIELLA
(shaking her finger)
Hey!
Lesi quickly shuts up and scampers off into Gabriella's
bedroom.
GABRIELLA
So what was the diagnosis?
KAIA
(hoarse voice)
They called it false labor.
Apparently new mothers go through
it all the time.
Gabriella giggles to herself.
KAIA
(annoyed)
What?
GABRIELLA
I didn't tell you to scream
yourself hoarse.
KAIA
Hey, it worked, didn't it?
Gabriella tosses her purse and keys on the couch and both of
them enter:
INT. G&C'S CONDO - KITCHEN - CONTINUOUS
Gabriella pulls out a jug of orange juice and pours herself a
glass.
GABRIELLA
Want some?
KAIA
(taking the jug)
Sure.
Gabriella gets another glass from the cabinet and turns back
to see Kaia couldn't be bothered to wait, as she's chugging
the entire thing down from the jug effortlessly.
Gabriella just watches her, completely slack jawed.
Kaia finishes off the orange juice and lets out a satisfied
sigh. Then she actually notices Gabriella's expression.
KAIA
Uh, sorry.
GABRIELLA
(shakes her head)
When are you due again?
KAIA
Tomorrow, if I had my way.
Gabriella takes the jug from Kaia and drops it in a nearby
trash can.
GABRIELLA
So, not to kick you out or
anything, but you should know
Pike's on his way over. Told him I
get him drunk for helping out
today.
Kaia leans against the kitchen counter and ponders that to
herself.
KAIA
I think... I'm gonna stay.
GABRIELLA
(blinks)
What?
KAIA
It's time I told him.
Gabriella leans up against the counter next to her friend.
GABRIELLA
You sure?
KAIA
(sighs)
Well, I'm just being stupid about
this. Besides, we had to plan
around him not needing to see me.
Getting Connor's soul back was
important to you and I was just
trying to protect a secret I
shouldn't be keeping.
(nods and exhales)
So yeah, I'm gonna tell him.
Gabriella places her hand on Kaia's shoulder. Kaia covers
that hand with her own and gently squeezes it.
KAIA
But, uh, could you get ME drunk
first? I need to loosen up.
Gabriella giggles again.
EXT. THE CHARON COMPLEX - EVENING
ERIC MARRUS (still in PIKE'S body as per 2x07) shuts the door
to Pike's Impala and lightly jogs across the street. Just
before he presses the intercom button next to the front door:
PROF. MARRUS (V.O.)
(echoing voice)
Eric...
Eric stops and looks back across the street. Following his
eyes, we spot PROFESSOR MARRUS sitting in a Lexus several
cars up from the Impala.
PROF. MARRUS (V.O.)
Don't risk anymore time in there
than you have to. Just retrieve the
soul and get out before you run the
risk of being discovered.
Eric nods and presses the intercom button. Inside the lobby,
a female CONCIERGE leans down and presses a button on her
console.
CONCIERGE
(through intercom)
How may I help you, sir?
ERIC
I'm here to see Gabriella Heron.
The concierge buzzes him in.
Across the street, Prof. Marrus smirks and takes a sip from a
Starbucks cup.
INT. G&C'S CONDO - LIVING ROOM - NEXT
Eric knocks on the door and Gabriella answers a few seconds
later.
She looks relieved to see him, but that look quickly turns to
disgust when she notices the bruises all over his face.
GABRIELLA
Oh God, I thought you said you were
fine?
She steps aside to let Eric in.
ERIC
(shrugs)
You should see that other guy.
Eric pauses when he sees the pregnant Kaia sitting on the
couch.
ERIC
(nervous)
Whoa! Uh, hey.
KAIA
(just as nervous)
Hey.
ERIC (V.O.)
Mom, the werewolf's here.
(beat)
And she's pregnant!
PROF. MARRUS (V.O.)
Get rid of her, then.
GABRIELLA
I'll, uh, leave you two alone.
Gabriella slinks off into her room, leaving Kaia and Eric in
the room alone.
KAIA
(sighs)
Okay, I'm really sorry I kept this
from you. I just... I was being
stupid.
ERIC
It's cool, I mean, should I care
that much about you being pregnant?
Kaia's completely thrown by that response and doesn't even
bother trying to hide it.
KAIA
(offended)
Excuse me?
ERIC
No, don't get me wrong. If this is
what you want, I'm happy for you.
KAIA
Oh. Well, thanks.
ERIC
So who's the father?
KAIA
(irate)
What?!?
Gabriella stumbles out of her doorway, obviously having been
eavesdropping.
GABRIELLA
What?!?
ERIC
(snaps his fingers)
It's Connor, isn't it?
Kaia's bottom lip starts to tremble.
KAIA
(choked up)
How can you even ask me that?
She picks up her car keys and storms out, covering her mouth
with one hand and roughly shoving Eric with the other.
Once she's gone, Gabriella crosses the room in three steps
and soundly SLAPS Eric across his face.
GABRIELLA
You jerk! Was that really
necessary?
ERIC (V.O.)
I think this guy's the father.
PROF. MARRUS (V.O.)
I don't care, Eric. Get it done!
ERIC
(guilty)
Gabriella, I'm... I'm sorry. I was
just so shocked that, I dunno, I
was trying to lighten the mood.
Gabriella just sighs.
GABRIELLA
Well, you failed. Miserably. Might
not wanna go after her just yet.
Unless you wanna lose an arm again.
ERIC
Again?
GABRIELLA
(beat)
Nevermind. I'll get my first aid
kit to patch you up.
She walks off into her bedroom again.
ERIC
So, uh, Connor's soul is safe?
GABRIELLA (O.S.)
Yes, thanks to you. Which is the
only reason I'm not turning you
into a frog.
ERIC
(laughs nervously)
So, uh, where's it at?
GABRIELLA (O.S.)
In here.
Eric pulls Pike's GUN.
ERIC
(smirks)
Glad to know it's in safe hands.
He starts moving towards Gabriella's bedroom.
BLACK OUT.
END OF TEASER
ACT ONE
FADE IN.
INT. G&C'S CONDO - LIVING ROOM - EVENING
Eric's about three steps from Gabriella's room when CONNOR
comes in the front door. He doesn't see Eric quickly put the
gun away.
CONNOR
Where's Gabriella?
ERIC
(suddenly nervous)
Uh, in her room.
Connor gives him a "what's up" nod as he takes off his wrist
stakes and tosses them in the hall closet.
CONNOR
How'd everything go with you guys'
thing? Looks like you had some fun.
ERIC
(nods)
Went well.
(waves his hand over his
face)
This is nothing though. We've been
through worse, right?
Connor smirks as he walks past Eric. Lesi comes out of
Gabriella's room and starts growling at Eric. Connor frowns
at the small dog.
CONNOR
Lesi, behave!
Lesi ignores him, continuing to growl at Eric. She loudly
BARKS and that's enough for Connor. He points back towards
Gabriella's room.
CONNOR
Lesi, cage! Now!
Lesi obediently leaves, throwing Eric quick glances before
she's out of sight.
CONNOR
(turning to Pike)
Sorry about that. Must be in heat
or something. I dunno.
Connor starts towards the kitchen.
CONNOR
Beer?
Eric waves the offer off and shakes his head.
ERIC
I'm good. Trying to cut back.
CONNOR
(shrugs)
Suit yourself.
GABRIELLA (O.S.)
Hey, Connor? Can you help me with
something in here?
Connor ducks into the kitchen and emerges a few seconds later
with a beer. He slightly slaps Eric on the shoulder as he
walks past him again.
CONNOR
(calling out to Gabriella)
I've got a bone to pick with you
anyway.
He disappears into the room. Eric takes a seat on the couch,
nervously rubbing his legs.
PROF. MARRUS (V.O.)
Eric, might I ask what's taking you
so long?
ERIC (V.O.)
Well, I got rid of the wolf, but
Connor's here now. I can't take
both of them. Not without my
powers. I'm still amazed my
telepathy works in this body.
CONNOR (O.S.)
Hey, Pike!
Connor comes out of Gabriella's room and takes a seat in the
leather recliner.
CONNOR
Just, uh, wanted to say thanks for
helping out today. Gab just told me
you went all macho and covered her
exit.
ERIC
Eh, well, what can I say? I'm an
action junkie.
CONNOR
(nods)
Right, right.
Connor takes a quick sip of his beer.
CONNOR
So where's your girl, Buffy, at?
ERIC
Buffy?
(beat)
Oh, yeah! Buffy! Yeah, I left her
at home. She was, uh, she was on
her period. You know how it goes.
Connor smirks and takes another sip of his beer, finishing it
off.
CONNOR
It's funny though.
Connor throws the empty beer bottle, hitting Eric square in
the nose. Eric yells and grabs his nose. Connor hops out of
the recliner and yanks Eric off the couch, throwing him to
the ground.
Gabriella comes out of the bedroom and retrieves Pike's gun
from inside the jacket Eric's wearing.
CONNOR
You hardly ever leave home without
her.
Connor has Eric on his stomach with one of his knees holding
him down.
CONNOR
(cold)
Now, who are you and where's the
real Pike?
ERIC (V.O.)
I'm busted, Mom.
PROF. MARRUS (V.O.)
Dammit!
Eric huffs and puffs, but doesn't answer right away.
ERIC
(beat; strained)
How'd you know anyway?
GABRIELLA
(matter-of-fact)
Oh! Well, see, everything has a
flow that connects them to their
native dimension and-
Connor turns to Gabriella with a frown.
CONNOR
Do you mind?
(to Eric)
She sensed you were a body-snatcher
the second you got here. Whatever
you said to Kaia apparently iced
it. Now, answer my question.
PROF. MARRUS (V.O.)
Eric, just go along with it. I have
a backup plan.
ERIC
Alright, alright, I give!
PROF. MARRUS (V.O.)
Take them back to your store. I'll
leave Pike there. Go ahead and
switch your bodies back.
ERIC
(sighs)
Your friend's back at my place. The
soul transfer shop you all wrecked
earlier.
Connor turns to Gabriella and smirks.
CONNOR
You still got those chains from
last year?
Gabriella nods. There's an awkward pause before Connor nudges
his head towards her room and gives her a "why are you still
here?" look.
GABRIELLA
(catching up)
Oh! Right!
CONNOR
(to Eric)
Hope you don't mind a little
company in the trunk.
Eric blinks. Huh?
INT. DOCTOR'S OFFICE - RECEPTION AREA - NEXT
The door to the stairwell entrance swings open and Connor
shoves a chained Eric through. Gabriella brings up the rear,
talking on her PDA.
GABRIELLA
(into phone)
No, Kaia, I mean he's really not
himself.
(beat; sighs)
Please stop crying and listen!
Someone stole his body to get
Connor's soul back.
(beat)
Yes! That's what I've been trying
to say! We're fixing it now. I'll
call you when we're done. Bye.
She hangs up and shakes her head. Connor grabs Eric by the
neck and shakes him.
CONNOR
Where to?
Eric nods towards the door on the opposite wall. Connor
shoves him in that direction and follows him towards it.
GABRIELLA
So, remind me why there's another
bound and gagged guy in your car?
CONNOR
(scoffs)
We haven't even gotten to the day
I've had yet. Let's get this taken
care of, then we'll talk.
As they enter the door, we FADE TO:
INT. DOCTOR'S OFFICE - PATIENT ROOM - NEXT
Connor, Eric, and Gabriella enter to see a bound and gagged
Pike squirming on the floor. Connor has to pause for a moment
to take this in.
CONNOR
(re: Pike)
What the hell's he doing back?
There's a beat before he realizes he's addressing the wrong
guy. He roughly shakes Eric again.
CONNOR
What the hell are you doing back?
GABRIELLA
Connor, let's just get this done.
(to Eric)
You said it was an Algurian body
switching spell?
Eric nods.
GABRIELLA
(to Connor)
I can take care of this.
CONNOR
(incredulous)
You trying to get rid of me?
GABRIELLA
(smirking)
Well, there's a bunch of crystals
in the basement that need to be
smashed. Don't want you getting
bored.
There's a beat before Connor returns the smirk.
CONNOR
You're too good to me.
GABRIELLA
Back out in the lobby, go left,
third door on the right takes you
down.
Connor nods and opens the door.
CONNOR
When we're done here, I still have
a bone to pick with you.
Gabriella nods and Connor shuts the door.
GABRIELLA
Where's your conjuring orb?
Eric just sneers at her.
FADE TO a few MOMENTS LATER.
Pike and Eric are now back in their real bodies. Eric is
chained to the small leather examination table. Pike is
stretching and popping his neck.
PIKE
(to Gabriella; whining)
You couldn't have had Connor wait
until I got my body back? I'm in a
smashy mood too.
Gabriella, who is leaning against the door, points to Eric.
GABRIELLA
Well, you've still got him.
Pike looks back at Eric and grins. He cracks his knuckles and
Eric's eyes go wide.
ERIC (V.O.)
Mom!
PROF. MARRUS (V.O.)
You failed, Eric! Take your
punishment like a man.
As Pike lands his first punch, we FLASH CUT TO:
EXT. DOCTOR'S OFFICE - NEXT
Pike comes out first, shaking his hand, followed by
Gabriella, then Connor.
PIKE
Sure we should've just left him
there?
GABRIELLA
What were we gonna do, Pike? Turn
him into the cops? What do we have
on him that wouldn't get us tossed
in straitjackets?
PIKE
(nods)
Fair point. We trashed all his gear
anyway, so he's out of business.
GABRIELLA
(turns to Connor)
Okay, so what's your beef with me?
CONNOR
(deadpan)
Project Prodigy.
And Gabriella's stunned into silence.
PIKE
(puzzled)
Project What?
GABRIELLA
(bows her head; low)
I should've told you about that.
Connor starts heading towards his car, with Gabriella briskly
following behind him.
CONNOR
Damn right you should've!
Pike steps between them and holds out his arms.
PIKE
Whoa, before you two get into it,
can I get dropped off at my place?
Body swap left me with a killer
headache.
Now Connor's the one suddenly looking guilty.
CONNOR
(unsure)
Yeah, uh, about that...
PULL AWAY to across the street as Prof. Marrus watches them
pile into Connor's car and drive off.
When they're doing, she gets out of her car.
INT. DOCTOR'S OFFICE - PATIENT ROOM - MOMENTS LATER
Prof. Marrus enters the room and her face falls.
Eric's still chained to the bed. He's sporting two black
eyes, a busted lip, and a bloodied nose. Both of his cheeks
are swollen.
PROF. MARRUS (V.O.)
Awww, honey!
She waves her hand in a small circle and the chains fall
right off of Eric. He groans and sits up.
ERIC (V.O.)
Did you get the soul after we left?
PROF. MARRUS (V.O.)
Didn't have time. I had to move
Pike before you got here.
(sighs)
Besides, I came up with a way to
take Connor's soul out of play.
Would've been a nice bargaining
chip down the line, but we can't
leave it with them.
ERIC (V.O.)
What's the plan?
PROF. MARRUS (V.O.)
I'll take care of it.
She helps him off the bed and wraps her arms around his waist
while he wraps one of his around her neck.
PROF. MARRUS (V.O.)
Let's get you cleaned up first.
Eric slightly limps as his mother helps him out of the room.
INT. VACANT APARTMENT - LIVING ROOM - NEXT
In the vacant apartment of Pike's building, LAURENCE and
COLLEEN REILLY are both startled by a knocking on the door.
Colleen checks the peep hole before opening the door.
Connor pushes the tied up SWAT GUY through the door. He's
carrying a broad sword in his free hand. Gabriella follows
behind him. She and Colleen shake hands.
COLLEEN
Hello, Gabriella. It's good to see
you again.
Connor pushes the SWAT guy onto the couch and whirls back
towards to the door to catch Gabriella now shaking Laurence's
hand.
CONNOR
You know each other already?
LAURENCE
Gabriella was one of the people
that interviewed us for
guardianship of you and Bridget.
CONNOR
(disgusted)
Interview? Did you bring resumes
with references?
LAURENCE
Well, we-
CONNOR
(interrupting)
I don't care! Jesus. The important
thing now is getting Bridget back.
GABRIELLA
What do you want to do?
Connor points his sword at Gabriella, a motion that she's
clearly a little wigged out by.
CONNOR
(to Gabriella)
I'm gonna ask our friend here some
questions. You go check on Pike and
make sure he gets patched up again.
Gabriella warily nods and goes back to the front door. She
watches Connor yank the SWAT member up to his feet and shove
him into a wooden dining room chair before leaving.
CUT TO a little while later, still in the same room.
Now the SWAT guy is tied to the chair and fully awake. Connor
slowly turns the sword in a circle.
CONNOR
(icily)
I really don't like repeating
myself. So I'm going to ask you
nicely just one more time.
(beat)
Where. Is. Bridget?
The SWAT guy swallows a lump in his throat, but defiantly
sticks his chin up.
SWAT GUY
(resolved)
I don't know. But even if I did, I
wouldn't be telling you.
Connor stops twirling his sword and holds it to the SWAT
guy's head, slowly lifting his chin with it.
Laurence and Colleen uneasily watch in the background.
CONNOR
(low; creepy)
Do you know who my father is? What
he's done to people for torture
just for the hell of it?
SWAT GUY
I know he blew my best friend's
head off with his own shotgun in a
school.
CONNOR
Yeah, he mentioned that.
Connor gently traces the blade of his sword across the SWAT
guy's cheek.
CONNOR
See, he left behind some memoirs
that I just finished up recently.
Now he runs the sword across the SWAT guy's shoulders.
CONNOR
As creepy as they were, I found the
sixty seven pages about his various
torture methods particularly
interesting.
The SWAT guy's starting to sweat a bit now, as are the
Reillys, but he manages to keep his chin held high.
SWAT GUY
We're trained to withstand torture.
Connor chuckles ever so slightly.
CONNOR
See, that's the thing. I'm not like
my father in that way. He enjoyed
taking his time with this sort of
thing.
(whimsical)
Almost like an art.
Connor raises the sword up and STABS the blade right through
the SWAT guy's foot, burying it so deep it goes through his
foot and the floor below it!
The SWAT guy YELLS in pain. Behind Connor, both Reillys wince
and share a worried look.
CONNOR
Me? I like to get right to the
point.
The SWAT guy stops yelling and starts hyperventilating.
CONNOR
Now, here's the bitch of it all. I
keep my swords very sharp. Hardly
took any effort to impale your foot
just now.
Connor leans in, his face not even an inch from his victim's.
CONNOR
And it wouldn't take much more to
turn this blade. Open up a wound in
your foot so horrifying that
doctors would have to cut the whole
foot off to save your life.
(beat)
And that's if I let you get to the
doctor in the first place. So you
better start talking.
To Connor's chagrin, the SWAT guy starts LAUGHING to himself.
CONNOR
Something funny?
SWAT GUY
(breathing heavily)
No. Just waiting on the cavalry.
Connor stands up and steps back.
CONNOR
Cavalry?
SWAT GUY
My boys should be here any second.
CONNOR
Yeah? And how would you know that?
SWAT GUY
(chuckling)
Did you ever think about how we
found...
(nods to the Reillys)
... them in the first place?
(beat; wry)
Come to think of it, they could
probably use a change of clothes.
Connor, Colleen, and Laurence barely have time to process
that before a GRENADE comes crossing through the window! It
hits the ground and EXPLODES, creating a huge cloud of smoke.
Everyone in the room immediately starts coughing violently as
the visibility gets worse from the smoke.
Connor squints and barely manages to see a masked SWAT guy
member CRASHING through one of the living room windows on a
suspension cable.
And another comes through right after. Followed by another.
BLACK OUT.
