He's dead.

Last season, Connor's free-spirited, gypsy-born companion was faced with the impossible dilemma of either killing him or allowing him to turn evil. Instead, Gabriella removed any chance of Connor killing (again) by branded his adopted little sister with the Mark of Saa, the same binding spell that all but crippled Gabriella herself earlier. With Connor's dead body in her arms, Gabriella is left with nothing but questions. What if she'd paid better attention and noticed Connor and she were being manipulated? What if she'd stuck by his side instead of shunning him after he murdered an innocent? And is there anything she can do to fix those mistakes?

On the surface, things are looking up for Oliver Pike, given his renewed relationship with Kaia. Deep down, Pike's still harboring acres of unresolved guilt, namely over the fact that he was seconds away from murdering his best friend for what he thought was the greater good. An act that was only stopped because he was interrupted, not because he consciously decided against that. On top of that, the last time he actually pulled the trigger, he shot Kaia and unknowingly killed their unborn children. Even with Kaia back in his life, Pike has been carrying that guilt all this time and that is what has fueled his incessant search for Gabriella and Connor.

After the events of Hounds of God, Kaia found herself thrust into the unlikely role of ambassador for werewolves, a liaison between her kind and the world's governments. Kaia's never been one to enjoy the spotlight, so her new position has made her very uncomfortable. Despite that, she found time to forgive and reconcile with Pike, allowing their relationship to resume. She doesn't particularly share Pike's obsession with finding Connor and Gabriella, but she helps where she can, in between having to play peacemaker between humans and a werewolf population that almost exterminated them.

Darryn "Dare" Monroe has got issues. Mother issues. Father issues. Abandonment issues. You name it. She's a gifted, street-smart young lady currently wasting her talents in petty thievery. Best described as a creature of the night, Dare sleeps while the sun's up and spend her nights in illegal street races, the odd burglary, basically anything to make a buck. She's adjusted well enough to learning about demons, since she's known about them her whole life and was waiting for the rest of the world, including the alcoholic aunt she lives with, to catch up.
